Services

Hello, my name is Steve Cooper. By now, you have probably read the “About Steve” section of this website and know that I have extensive experience in building High Tech companies. My interest now is in working with CEOs of a limited number of high potential companies. I want to help transform a few good companies with passion and talent into great companies that are capable of being number one in their markets.

The Engagement

Because every business is different, I tailor my work to the specific objectives of the CEO. My preferred method to get started is to spend up to four hours on-site with the CEO getting acquainted, learning about the business, and exploring any questions or concerns the CEO may have. During the initial meeting I am often able to show prospective clients how we can address one or more problems facing the company. There is no charge for this initial meeting. Assuming we have a mutual interest in proceeding further, I will then prepare an engagement letter and contract which will outline how we will work together and what the fees will be.

Scope of Services

With over 35 years in technology management, there is a very high probability that I have either dealt with the problems you are facing, or know someone who has. Some of the areas in which I advise CEOs include:

  • Developing Your CEO Skills
  • Business Strategy Development
  • Business/Market Assessment and Recommendations
  • Capital Structure, Analysis and Planning
  • Board Composition and Utilization
  • Team Assessment, Organizational Structure and Staffing
  • Performance Planning and Reporting
  • Business Planning Process
  • Market Research

Fees

My typical agreement with a company includes a monthly retainer with a minimum of one day per month.  In order to ensure that we can fully focus on and resolve key issues, I request that our minimum direct engagement times are in four hour blocks. Fees are to be paid in cash, or in an agreed upon combination of cash and stock/stock options. Unless otherwise stated, contracts can be cancelled by either party with one month’s notice. The objective is to develop a working relationship that is so valuable to both parties that it will last for a significant time. I’m interested in helping you build your company for the long run.
